The traditional festival of Saint Mamas in Skalia takes place every year on September 1, on the eve of the feast day of Saint Mamas, protector of shepherds.
Immediately after the vespers service, the parishioners carry the icon of the Saint down to the village square. There, a traditional celebration follows beneath the centuries-old plane tree, with music, dancing, and the participation of the local community until the early morning hours.
The festival is one of the most characteristic events of Skalia and keeps alive the bond of the residents with faith, pastoral tradition, and the social life of the village.
